Scotch Universe was founded in Germany by Michel „The Whisky Druid“ and Cask Master Alex with a simple ambition: to bottle outstanding Scotch whisky of uncompromising quality and with as much transparency as possible. 

The journey began in 2016, at a time when many exceptional casks could only be released without naming their distillery. Rather than accepting anonymity, Scotch Universe introduced what has since become its trademark: the Scotch Universe Code. This unique system reveals a whisky’s origin, cask type, age and region through a set of coordinates within the ever-expanding Universe of Scotch Whisky. Over the years, the code has become one of the defining features of the brand and is recognised by whisky enthusiasts throughout Europe and Asia, particularly in Japan. 

Since then, well over 250 different whiskies have been bottled. From the very beginning, the focus has been on exceptional cask quality, with a strong preference for first-fill casks. Great wood creates great whisky, and outstanding maturation has always been considered one of the most important ingredients of every release. 

Scotch Universe has never followed famous distillery names or market trends. Every bottling is selected on its own merits, regardless of where it comes from. Thanks to a substantial cask inventory, there has never been any pressure to bottle for the sake of bottling. Only whiskies that meet the founders‘ own expectations for quality, character and individuality ever find their way into a bottle.
